Peter Godfrey-Smith was an undergraduate at the University of Sydney and did his PhD in philosophy at UC San Diego. He then taught for 12 years at Stanford University, in California. From 2003 to 2005 he had a half-time position in the Philosophy Program at RSSS. He is now professor of philosophy at Harvard University, but still spends time regularly at the RSSS. Godfrey-Smith's primary research interests are in the philosophy of biology and philosophy of mind. He also has interests in other parts of philosophy of science, causation, and the philosophy of John Dewey.
