Daniel Stoljar: Current Projects

Book-length Project

After finishing up Ignorance and Imagination, my next book-length project is Physicalism which will appear in the Routledge New Problems of Philosophy Series (Editor: Jose Luis Bermudez). The central idea of this manuscript is to introduce and explain to upper-level undergraduates and graduate students the thesis (or theses, as I see it) of physicalism and the philosophical role that such theses play.

Paper-length Projects

1. "Distinctions in Distinction". This is a paper I gave last year at a conference on Macquarie on Mental Causation and will give again in 2005 at a conference on reductive explanation in Denmark.

2. "The Argument From Revelation" This is a paper that will appear in a volume on the Canberra Plan, edited by Robert Nola and David Braddon Mitchell.

3. "Descriptivism in Sensu Diviso" This is a paper that Philip Pettit and I have written on the so-called permutation problem for descriptivist theories of reference.

4. "Stich's Paradox". This is a paper I wrote a little while ago for a conference organized by Huw Price.

6. "Advertisement for a Solution to the Zombie Problem". This is a prŽcis of the MS mentioned above. I have given it as talks at various places and plan to publish it separately.
