Daniel Stoljar

Daniel Stoljar was educated as an undergraduate at the University of Sydney, and received his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in September 1995. He spent 1996 in the Philosophy Program at RSSS as a Postdoctoral Fellow, and then took up a position as Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Stoljar was a Senior Fellow in the Program from 2002-2006, and is now Professor of Philosophy. His principal areas of research are philosophy of mind, metaphysics, and metaethics. He is the Philosophy of Mind Editor (with David Chalmers) of the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy. He is author of two books: Ignorance and Imagination: The Epistemic Origin of the Problem of Consciousness and Physicalism, as well as the co-editor (with Peter Ludlow and Yujin Nagasawa of There's Something about Mary: Essays on Phenomenal Consciousness and Frank Jackson's Knowledge Argument. In 2004 he was the Marshall Weinberg Distinguished Visiting Professor of Philosophy at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. In 2005 he was a guest professor at Namicona Institute at the University of Aarhus, Denmark. In 2007 he was a visiting professor at Harvard University.
