Visiting students
The School of Philosophy regularly plays host to a small number of PhD students from PhD programs at other universities, both in Australia and elsewhere. They spend a period of time at RSSS as a Visiting PhD Student, talking with the School's academic staff, PhD students, and Visiting Fellows.
Visiting PhD Students are provided with a desk and access to computing, email, and library facilities. Students enrolled in the following PhD programs have taken advantage of this scheme:
Central European University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, The University of Barcelona, Washington University at St Louis, University of Arizona at Tucson, University of Canterbury, Kings College London, University of Louvain, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Monash University, University of Montreal, Princeton University, Oxford University, Reading University, University of St Andrews, University of Auckland, University of Geneva, London School of Economics, University of Cologne, University of California at Berkeley, Stanford University, University of Toronto, Harvard University, Yale University, University of California at Davis, University of Pittsburgh.
Those who are interested in becoming a Visiting PhD Student in the School of Philosophy should get in touch with Nicholas Southwood, Convenor of the Philosophy Program, with (1) a half page research proposal, (2) a writing sample, (3) a CV, and (4) preferred dates of visit. Unfortunately, we do not have the funds to offer financial support for visiting students, but visiting students to the philosophy program, RSSS, do not have to pay tuition fees at the ANU.
