Jonathan Schaffer joins the Philosophy Program

Jonathan Schaffer has recently joined the Philosophy Program as full professor. Jonathan was previously at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He is primarily interested in metaphysics and epistemology. You will find more information about him on his personal web site.

In the Philosophical Gourmet Report for 2006-08, the philosophy program at RSSS ranks top in the world for philosophy of mind (equal with NYU and Rutgers). It also has distinguished rankings in philosophy of biology (group 2), philosophy of cognitive science (group 2), applied ethics (group 3), political philosophy (group 3), and metaphysics (group 3). Other specialty areas in which philosophy at ANU is ranked strongly include philosophy of language; decision, rational choice, and game theory; metaethics and philosophy of social science.
