Following last year's successful Film and Philosophy Workshop, members of the PhD program in Philosophy, in conjunction with the Philosophy Program at RSSS, will once again host a series of seminars on film and philosophy. Tuesday 27 May 2003: Discussion of 'Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest' from Narration in Light: Studies in Cinematic Point of View by George Wilson (UC Davis), 7:00pm, Seminar Room E. North By Northwest shown at 4:00pm. Friday 27 June 2003: 'The Matrix as Metaphysics', David Chalmers (University of Arizona), 5:00pm, Coombs Lecture Theatre. Tuesday 19 August 2003: Discussion of 'Nicholas Ray's Rebel without a Cause' from Narration in Light: Studies in Cinematic Point of View by George Wilson (UC Davis), 7:00pm, Seminar Room E. A copy of Wilson's chapter is available for photocopying from the mailbox in front of the Philosophy Program at RSSS. Rebel without a Cause shown at 4:00pm. |
